Leyland Jobs

The town of Leyland is situated in the South Ribble borough of Lancashire, about six miles south of Preston. The population is around 42,000 people and it is known primarily for the HQ of Leyland Motors, who make busses and trucks. From around 1950 to the 70’s, Leyland Motors grew and became British Leyland, at the time, one of the globes biggest motor manufacturers, which also meant a big employer of people in the UK.

British Leyland as a company was split apart and broken down in the 80’s, with take-overs and mergers on the truck manufacturing side of the business meant that this began to thrive and grow when a US business (PACCAR) took over and brought their production from Sandbach, Cheshire to Leyland.

Leyland has another large company which calls it home, Enterprise PLC, which is a maintenance and utility company. Enterprise is an important employer in the area as it has front line services to the public sector.
